7:00 pm. The gymnasts are marching out. Canada is in a red leo with white maple leaf outlines. New Zealand is in leos that are silvery white on the left and black on the right. It king of looks like a leaf where they meet. Japan is in red with a gold design on front. They’re pretty far from me right now, so I might be able to give you a better description later.
6:56 pm. Waverly Gymnastics said on Facebook that Emily Whitehead tore a calf muscle during podium training and will be returning to Australia on Wednesday, so she is out of the Test Event.
6:50 pm. I think the US is wearing the same leo Gabby Douglas and Maggie Nichols wore for the American Cup. They are fuschia and look so much sparklier in person than they do on TV. Earlier Shannon Miller said that Peggy Liddick was also a trendsetter on the rhinestone front, sewing them onto Miller’s leotards by hand.
6:48 pm. Welcome to the Evening Session! New Zealand will start on vault, Japan will start on bars, Canada will start on beam, and the US will start on floor. Just to warn you, the wifi keeps going out here, so if I disappear for a while, that’s why.
